Restoring Family Links Mentors

Restoring Family Links mentors serve as subject matter experts and champions of the RFL program. They provide guidance and training on Restoring Family Links casework to American Red Cross staff locally and nationwide. They also provide feedback to national headquarters on the RFL program and provide input into national projects.

Mentor Attributes

  • Professional, personable, creative, provides constructive feedback and possesses a positive attitude
  • Knowledge of RFL casework
  • Experience with RFL outreach
  • Certified RFL Casework Instructor (certification training provided at April meeting)
  • Spokesperson for RFL (willing to speak at chapter events, inform the media about the program and write about their experience with the Red Cross)

 Mentor Responsibilities

  • Teach the RFL course locally
  • Be a resource for other chapter caseworkers (casework and program management advice mainly via phone and email)
  • Actively participate and help set the agenda for RFL conference calls (scheduled quarterly)
  • Provide feedback to national headquarters on the RFL program and provide input into the revision of RFL tools and resources
  • Available to travel at least once a year for up to 1 week to support other chapters or HQ in RFL (teach courses, consult on casework management, assist HQ with special projects)
