Yom Hashoah

Holocaust Remembrance Day or Yom Hashoah was celebrated from sundown on April 7 to sundown on April 8. In celebration, Red Cross chapters across the United States reached out to Holocaust Survivors and their families, informing them about the Restoring Family Links service, which could help them reconnect with their families and/or find documentation. According to this article in the Holland Sentinel, "Since 1990, the American Red Cross has helped more than 45,000 families search for information and documentation of their loved ones who went missing during the Holocaust. This work has resulted in locating 1,600 individuals and reconnecting them with their families."

Other news outlets featured stories (linked below)  from survivors who were reconnected with their families, or were provided documentation with the help of the American Red Cross Restoring Family Links Program.
